Gordon Ottaway Good Citizen Award

The Gordon Ottaway Good Citizen Award scheme is Boughton under Blean Parish Council’s opportunity to celebrate and recognise the contribution to the community of an individual or group of residents.

The award scheme is currently closed for accepting nominations and will re-open on 1st September 2025.

Residents of the parish, or any person, group or organisation operating within the parish are invited to make as many different nominations as they wish.

  • Nominations open on 1st September and close on 31st October each year,
  • The winner is democratically chosen by the Parish Council at its November meeting each year,
  • The award is presented by the Parish Council in December each year.

If you know of an individual, local group or organisation that has gone that extra mile and made a positive difference in the community, please do complete a nomination form and return it to the Parish Clerk (clerk@boughtonunderblean-pc.gov.uk).

Note that when completing a nomination form, please give a detailed explanation including examples to support a nomination, as this is the only information used to assess the nomination.  This might include:

  • Brought credit or benefits to the village and residents,
  • Gone the extra mile to provide services and improve quality of life for local people or an individual,
  • Benefited the community through volunteering activities/fundraising to deliver a specific project.

Nominations for current Parish Councillors or their immediate family cannot be accepted, nor can they or a member of their immediate family nominate others.

Nominations for current employees and/or contractors of the Parish Council cannot be accepted, however they may nominate others for consideration.
